Quick Tip: Buy Food In Bulk!
Here’s a quick tip when it comes to buying food.
When buying dry foods like pasta, rice, and sugar, try to buy them in bulk. Other than the reason of saving a lot of money, buying things in bulk avoids having to put excess packaging in the trash. The best ways to be able to buy food in bulk is by joining members-only warehouse chains like Costco or Sam’s Club.
At home, when transfering the foods, make sure to do put them in tight-sealing jars or canisters to keep them fresh. If you don’t have enough, then just leave the other food packages closed. Just open the ones you are going to be using. Oh, and just make sure you don’t buy so much food that you end up throwing them away!

If you buy meat wholesale, whatever you do, make sure you separate it into portions. I forgot to do that the first time and now every other time I do it, the other half asks me if we also need to buy a hammer and chisel. It’s also a good idea to flatten it, otherwise you’re going to run out of freezer space very quickly.
Also, don’t rely too much on guides as to what to buy in bulk and what not to. Most guides I’ve read tell you not to buy eggs in bulk but I do because I get through them very quickly indeed. You have to look at your household to see what would make sense. There’s good general guidance but no universal rule.
